8/28/09 - Burr Oak, MI - It rained all morning yesterday so we took the day off.
Today, I hitched up in the rain and took the lads south. The first couple hours went all right, then there was a little excitement. When we were going by an irrigation well, Bill thought the colored piping was moderately scary. He jumped a little to the side, but the driving lines were a little wet and I lost one. We ended up taking a spin down the ditch. Fortunately, it wasn’t too deep, so no harm done. Well, no harm to the wagon, but it sure made a mess inside. I pulled in front of a barn to clean up the mess. I guess the wagon needed a good cleaning anyway! I would have taken a picture, but the camera was at the bottom of the pile.
The rest of the day of pretty uneventful. Tonight we’re camped at Jorge’s bar on US-12. It’s been quite a while since I’ve been able to camp at a bar and I’m looking forward to being a normal human being on a Friday evening. And If I have one too many, I don’t have to worry about having to jump into a car.
Tomorrow, we should be crossing the state line back into Indiana. I’ve had a pretty good time in Michigan (oh yeah, one night to go!)
