1/25/09, Hickory Flats, TN - This was a day of rest for the horses and I. In the morning I had a surprise when an old coworker and friend from New Hampshire stopped by to say hi. I worked with Dave Oleham for a number of years at the Seabrook Nuclear plant. Dave only lives about 50 miles from here in Northwest Alabama, so he stopped by to visit on his way out to Iowa for another job. It was really great to see him.
The remainder of the day was peaceful and rather pleasant.
1/26/09, Adamsville, TN - We traveled about 16 miles today over some easy terrain. At lunch, Joanne Ivy was kind enough to drop me off an apple cake she had just baked - it sure is good! Tonight we’re camped right across from the grain store in Adamsville. There’s some green grass in their paddock and the horses are really enjoying it.
Tomorrow, I’m off for Shiloh, site of a major civil war battle in 1862.
