1/8/09, Slauters, KY - I spent the day with Bill Corbett, from Robards, KY as a passenger. We pulled out of Sandy’s place about 8:30 am on our way south.
All in all it was a very pleasant day. The traffic was light, the sun was shining and the horses were pulling well.
The pictures show Bill taking the lines while I step back in the cabin and heat up a pot of coffee. It felt strange seeing the world creep by through the side windows of the wagon.
Tonight we’re camped next to a construction outfit in Slaughters, KY. Shortly after we pulled in a whole bunch of folks stopped by to say high and wish us well. They included several draft horsemen and mule skinners. I walked down to the local diner for a pizza supper.
Tomorrow morning, we’ve been invited to appear at the local grade school. It’s always a good time to stop and see the kids!
