4/6/12, Rio Grande River Valley, CO - With 40 mph winds, gusting to 70, Dave and I took it easy for most of the day. With the wind blowing up the river, it looked like the water was flowing uphill.
The horses took advantage of the downtime to catch a few extra Z’s.
We saw several herds of wild horses today, but they were all off in the distance. One herd with a gray mare walked along the river bank to within a half mile of the camp, then turned inland for the hills.
There’s a little bay mare that is lame in her front left hoof that is hanging out right across the river, but I believe she was one of the domestic horses that was released her in recent years.
