I originally set up this page to track the power production and use on the wagon. After being on the road, I found that I really didn’t have the right metering installed to do this.
Here’s what I normally see for production and usage:
Typical load for a day: 1.5 to 2.5 Kilowatts.
Sunny Day: By 11:00 am in the morning, the batteries are fully charged and the charge controller is limiting current going to the batteries.
Partly Cloudy Day (50% sun): The batteries are normally fully charged by 1 pm
Cloudy Day: - At midday when the sun is behind the clouds, the panels produce from 30 to 100 watts per hour. I estimate that about 1/3 to 1/2 my electric usage for the day is generated by the panels on a cloudy day, leaving me with a 1.0 to 1.5 Kilowatt deficit. Since my batteries can store approximately 4 kilowatts of power, I figure I can handle 3 cloudy days in a row. So far, the worst weather I’ve seen is two cloudy days in a row - this was no problem.
