2/12 & 2/13/10 - 2/12/10, Kerens, TX - The night before, we were witness to a record snowfall, as about 8 inches of wet snow fell. Denise and I hunkered down for the day, as the boys got to chow down on some extra hay and oats.  It was a very relaxing day, and included trips to the feed stre and grocery store.

2/13/10, Corsicanna, TX -  After three days of rest, relaxation and weather delays, we finally hit the road. During our time off, we were guests of the Bancroft family.  They went out of their way to make us feel at home.

After hitching up Doc and Bill, we drove the five miles back to the feedstore, where we overnighted 3 days before. After saying goodbye to the great folks there, we headed off for Corsicanna. For a couple hours, we had Randy and Karen’s daughter Mckenzie as a guest rider.

“’This is a great way to go down the road, but I bet I can drive”.

2-13-10 004

“Hey, this is no harder than riding my horse ‘Charlie’.  You can let go of the lines now”.

“See, I can drive them all by myself!”

Mckenzie was a delight to have on board. When she wasn’t busy driving the team, she kept Denise busy with several games of Tic-Tac-Toe and ‘Connect the Dot’.  Bill and Doc responded well to a six year old precosious girl on the lines - of course, she wasn’t afraid to really haul back on one of the lines when she needed to. I imangine that Charlie minds his P’s and Q’s when she’s riding him.

Tonight, we have a primitive camp on a little out of the way spot, just east of the City of Corsicanna.

All in all, this was a very nice day.  And the best thing about Texas snow - it doesn’t stick around very long.
