The Sacred Hearts Catholic Church

WAGONTEAMSTER .COM

11/28/08, Mount Gilead, OH - I got off to a late start from the Valentine house this morning.  I had to reshoe both Joyce and Dollie.  Then, I had to join them for a cup of coffee before I hitched up. This was a really pleasant place to stay and it was with reluctance that I finally hitched up and hit the road about 10:30 am.

The terrain is definitely getting flatter and the team had no problem pulling today. A couple of miles south of Mt. Gilead, we pulled into the Sacred Hearts Catholic Chruch.  Three of the local parishioners were erecting a flag pole and directed me to the Father, who welcomed us and made us feel at home.

Journey 11-28

After I had the horses all penned in and on the grass, the Padre invited me and a couple of the parishioners out for supper. It was a great meal and a great time.

It’s suppose to be warm enough for the next few days, that I felt comfortable filling up the water tank on the wagon.  It sure is nice to be able to use the sink and shower.

This was a great day for driving, partly sunny and the temperature was above freezing.  In spite of our late start, we still managed to make about 14 miles today. Nothing stood out as odd or unusual today, it was just an overall really nice day.
