12/7/08 - Covington, OH - I’ve got about a day and a half of travel left in Ohio before hitting the Hoosier state. This morning I left the Dawson place in Fletcher after a nice home cooked breakfast. A few miles down the road, we hit the city of Piqua.  The traffic on a Sunday afternoon was light and I decided to have lunch in a parking lot right in the middle of the downtown section.

Several people stopped by to chat and see the horses during lunch, including this young lady who was brave enough to get boosted up on Doc while wearing her Sunday finery. Doc likes all the girls - he doesn’t care if they’re wearing jeans or skirts.

Three cute little sisters in their matching purple coats decided they wanted to sit on Deedee. You can see in the picture that Deedee was so worked up about it that she didn’t even bother to wake up from her afternoon nap!

The last couple of pictures were sent to me the “Abernathy’s”. The photos were taken on the road between Piqua and Covington - Thanks.

This was a nice sunny day without too much wind. Even with temperatures that didn’t climb up above the lower 20’s it didn’t feel too bad.

I’m spending the night at Dan Fritts’s place just west of Covington. Dan trains cutting horses and has trained some top horses over the years.  He’s got the horses comfortably bedded down in his large indoor riding arena.

I’ve got one more night to spend in Ohio.  I’ve really enjoyed this state.
